Paper Recycling

Our Paper Recycling project started long ago as a door to door collection of slick magazine paper. Now we ship approximately 30 tons of newsprint and magazines every ten weeks. We have a paper drop-off building on the right side of Simpson, across the street from Duffy's, and every week the paper gets moved into the trailer.

The Paper shed got a makeover when we moved to the current location on Simpson. It is sporting new paint, deck, a new Lions sign, and a much requested Hand Rail. We also put a nice new sign on the side of the semi trailer.

Bicycles from Heaven

"Bicycles from Heaven" was taken over from the AberdeenKiwanis Club when they disbanded. The Lions Club collects used and discarded bicycles, pays to have them refurbished to "Like New" condition, and presents them to underprivileged people. We have distributed over 3500 bicycles since we started over a decade ago. Our partners in this endeavor are the crew of offenders that repairs and paints the bikes, and the Salvation Army that screens the applications to ensure that they are distributed to those in need.

Salvation Army Food Bank

Every week the Aberdeen Lions donate their time to the Salvation Army Food Bank.  With two food distribution days, and two food stocking/packing days a week...every week, we are talking a lot of time.  At Christmas time we also donate time to the iconic  "Salvation Army Bell Ringing" fund raiser that the they are famous for.

Aberdeen/Hoquiam Easter Egg Hunt

Aberdeen Lions holding the line against the excited hoard of Egg Hunters! The children start showing up about half an hour before, and it lasts about a minute and a half after the horn sounds.  Admission to the festivities is one can of food for the Food Bank.

Relay for Life

Aberdeen Lions Club booth sales novelties and cotton candy to raise money for the fight against Cancer. A custom bicycle is raffled off to raise even more funds for the event. All proceeds from this event goes to the American Cancer Society.

Toast the Harbor Wine and Food Festival

Since 2005, the Toast the Harbor Wine and Food Festival has proved to be a successful event and good fundraiser. The Quinault Beach Resort & Casino is an excellent venue for this evening of Wine, Food and Fun. A Silent Auction of donated items is also a crowd pleaser.

White Cane Days

White Cane Days benefits the Northwest Lions Foundation and has always been a major activity of the Aberdeen Lions.  The funds that we collect are usually supplemented from out treasury and from the interest on a bequest of former Lion Jim Mason.

Social Events

Besides the weekly meetings that always include a social gathering, a meal, and usually a guest speaker, there are the "Special" events...

  • Crab Feed (crab season)
  • Charter Party - June
  • Steak Fry - August or September
  • Christmas Party - December

Check the Calendar to see what is happening...and when.  See you there!
