Woodland Host Lions participates in a number of projects, including:

  • Literacy program in elementary schools – funded in part by the Lions Education Foundation (LEF) – Award e-readers to elementary school students who participated in reading program (winner from each grade level drawn from tickets earned)
  • Collect used eyeglasses that are refurbished (Folsom Prison Vision Project). Drop Off Locations:

    • Senior Center, 
    • Walmart Optical on Main St.

  • Sponsoring Boy Scout Troop 69
  • Sponsoring Cub Scout Pack 1932
  • Sponsoring Woodland High Leos Club
  • Members are on the Boy Scout Cabin Board (a historical site)
  • Woodland High School Scholarship for Journalism
  • Support 4th & Hope with Christmas gifts and preparing meals
  • Conduct a Multiple-District 4 High School Student Speaker Contest
  • High School Student Exchange - local students visit another school
  • Yolo Family Service Christmas gifts
  • Lions Special Kids Day (annual district event for special needs kids)
  • Child Spree (annual community event)
  • Conduct PlusOpitx eye screenings in local schools
  • Woodland Food Closet
  • Canine Companions for Independance
  • White Cane Day (accept donations for vision programs)
  • Outa-Sight Dinner (October)
  • American Legion-Boys State
