WOODINVILLE LION’S  Club Activity Zone Report

MEMBERSHIP REPORT: Current Membership: 21, 2 NEW members, Loucif Kharouni, and Laura Novak.  We have 2 at large. 

 

Sight & Hearing: In Feb. We’ve collected 967 pairs of glasses. 15 Lion Hrs.

In February we have approved 1 new patient for glasses, one applicant for hearing aids, and one for cataract surgery is pending.  

 

HopeFest: The club will participate in this year's Hopefest in Bellevue doing vision and hearing screening with the help of A-plus Hearing. The event is on March 14th. From 3:00 - 7:00.

 

Book Collection & Fundraiser: We continue to collect books. This month the club delivered approximately 516 books for the Lions Learning Library. 6 Hours.

 

Miner's Park work party. We had 6 Lions serve 12 hours on our Park Clean up this month. The next service project at the park will be March 13th. Our ADOPT-A-ROAD work party is on March 17th, 10:00 AM. 
 


Homeless Students, we donated 33 pairs of socks to NorthShore Warm Hearts, Warm Feet homeless students. We also will receive a $100 donation in April from Costco, and 40 sandwich gift cards from McDonald's in Woodinville.

 

Other Club News
Mason Bees:  Two Lions sorted mason Bee Cocoons for Crown Bees in Woodinville. These are natural pollinators that are used by orchards and farmers to sublimate the losses of honey bees due to a virus.  They have been proven to be almost twice as efficient as the traditional Honey Bees.      

 

Web Site. A young man from Woodinville High School, a freshman, Keanu Thakalath, is getting service hours helping upgrade our e-club house web site.  His mother used to work for a Lions Club in India.  He is already making an impact by changing the look and adding photos and information. Check it out!

 

Wheel Chair Ramp. We finished a 32 ft. wheel Chair Ramp with landing off the rear deck for PZC Gordy Smith, and repaired his front porch.   3 Lions (one from Lake City) have spent a total of 65 Hours.

 

Venture Scout crew.  Our Chartered Troop, we provided pizza for their December Court of Honor in recognition of their continued help at various Lions events; Park Clean-up, Busy-B Auction, Wheel Chair Ramp, and Macy’s Parade. They are currently fundraising for a trip to Washington DC. 

 

Flight for Sight. We will be doing our 10th Annual Flight for Sight fundraiser on May 2nd.  And the District will also have a fundraiser, LIONS 200, on the same day raising money for the District convention and other expenses  .
