The Winnipeg River Area Lions Club began as a Branch Club of the 'Lions Club of Lac du Bonnet' in the spring of 2023. Early in 2024, the Branch Club attained twenty new members making them eligible to apply to Lions International to become a chartered club. In April of 2024, Winnipeg River Area Lions was granted charter membership with Lions International. Winnipeg River Area Lions serve the communities along the shore of the Winnipeg River in the RM of Alexander from Great Falls to The beaches on the southern basin of Lake Winnipeg.
