Early on, Lions were given a challenge by Helen Keller to be Knights of the Blind. Ever since, our mission has been to help the blind.
Lions all over the country collect used eyeglasses for distribution in developing nations worldwide. The glasses are collected through donation boxes stationed at various locations throughout cities. These glasses are sent to recycling centers where they are measured for prescription and cleaned. They are then delivered to a developing nation with a team of volunteer Lions and optometrists who provide examinations and select the proper glasses according to prescription. In some countries such as Mexico, permanent clinics have been established.
The Windsor Lions Club has collection boxes at the locations listed below and collects approximately 1,200 pair of used eyeglasses each year. Won't you help by placing your no-longer used eyeglasses in one of our boxes?
