Recently the Westshore Lions participated in the Annual Independence Day "Ringing of the Bell" to commemorate our Nation's Independence at the Westlake July 4th Celebration.
The Lions Club members assisted our fellow Lion Nan Baker and Mayor Dennis Clough with the program of naming the the orignal 13 Colonies in concert with the Bell Ringing done annually across the USA each July 4th.
Lions motto is "WE SERVE" and though recognition is not a goal of ours we at times are honored by recognition in the community for good deeds.
Such was the case on July 8th when Lion Jeffrey Dell was recognized by ESPN Cleveland WKNR 850 with an ESPY Award for his good deeds as the player/coach of the Cleveland Scrappers Beep Baseball Team for those who are blind and visually impaired.
Lion Jeff was recognized for going above and beyond by finding creative ways to keep the sight challenged athletes and team members engaged during the Pandemic from Spring 2020 thru Spring 2021 with remote practices and drills. This was extra important for those who are blind and visually impaired because isolation and lonliness is an ongoing issue all the time but, then compounded by Covid.
