A member of the Weslaco Lions Club since 1958. Roy held every office through District Governor of District 2-A3. He received the Melvin Jones Fellow Award and served as president of the Texas Lions Children's Camp, in Kerrville, Texas, recipient of District 2-A3's Ray Hughston Humanitarian award, inducted into the Texas Lions Hall of Fame and was awarded the most prestigious award in Lions Clubs International, the Ambassador of Good Will Award.
Roy was a member of Gideon’s, Deacon of the First Baptist Church of Weslaco, twice named Weslaco's Outstanding Citizen, President of Weslaco Chamber of Commerce, and the Rio Grande Valley Chamber of Commerce. Roy was a Broker/Partner in Davis Real Estate.
These are the facts and accomplishments of Roy Davis‘ life, however Roy’s greatest accomplishments were in how he made you feel about yourself and what you could accomplish. He was always quick to compliment and would always offer suggestions to make you better, in a way that left you appreciative and not feeling rebuked. Roy had faith in you even when it may not have been deserved. If you were a new member or a Past International President, Roy treated you with the same respect. Roy taught us how to be good Lions but more importantly Roy taught us how to be good men and women, to be quick to help, to build others up, and to give encouragement, but slow to blame. Roy taught us by his example that the relationships developed in life are as important as the accomplishments of life. The Lions who knew Roy loved Roy and will miss him dearly. New generations of Lions will not know Roy Davis personally but they will know his spirit because his spirit will live forever in the hearts of the Weslaco Lions.
