IT'S 2023! WELLAND LIONS WILL CELEBRATE 100 YEARS OF SERVICE!

Lions Club International was founded in 1917. The WELLAND LIONS CLUB came into existence not too long after in 1923.  Local Lions Clubs, like ours, offer men and women the opportunity to give back to their communities.   Members get involved in local projects such as raising funds for Diabetes and Camp Dorset, purchasing Guide Dogs, sponsoring local sports teams, planting trees, helping neighbours less fortunate and identifying causes near and dear to their own local community.

Lions have a rich history of serving the citizens of WELLAND and area, and all the way round the world. Lions share five (5) Global Causes: DIABETES, VISION, HUNGER, ENVIRONMENT & CHILDHOOD CANCER.

The Welland Lions Clubs have helped families in need and donated funds that assist those in need.  The organizations we support  include  Vision Support Services, Women’s Shelters, Food Banks, Homeless Shelters, Purchase of Hospital & Fire Fighting Equipment, and numerous others.

One of our greatest accomplishments has been our success in being able to purchase Guide Dogs. As soon as one becomes available, we recently donated $35,000 to the Guide dogs for the purchase and training of another dog, this makes it # 5 for the Welland Lions Club.

Today there are more than 46,000 Lions Clubs in 207 countries or geographical areas in the world.
