World Services for the Blind
WSB was founded by the Lions of Arkansas to serve blind or visually impaired people who needed to learn independent living skills or job training skills tailored to the special requirements of their individual visual impairments. Until 2011, the official name of Word Services for the Blind was Lions World Services for the Blind. Although all board members are Lions with one exception and the center remains a major Lions charity, the name was shortened to simply World Services for the Blind to enhance fund raising from groups outside of Lions. Many funding organizations felt there was no need for funding since Lions supported the center. In the hearts of Lions we realize the center is truly a Lions charity, but also realize that outside funding is critical to the health of the organization. The goal of WSB then, and today, is to empower blind or visually impaired adults to achieve sustainable independence through life skills, career training and community access. Since it birth, WSB has served more than 1200 people from all 50 states and 58 countries. WSB is a fabulous center of which we can all take great pride. Through the year, WSB has gradually expanded its services to become the most comprehensive adult rehabilitation center in the World.
