Meetings

Our October 8th meeting will be held at the Waynesboro Country Club beginning 6:00 pm.  We will have a representative from Family Care Services, Inc. located in Chambersburg, PA.  They offer services in Foster Care, Adoption, Family-Based Mental Health Services and Life Sharing.  This should be an interesting program and we hope you will have questions for the representative to answer.

We will have another “Who is this Lion” contest this month.  Lion Dan Harper was last month’s “Who is this Lion” and we had three Lions correctly identify him.  Congratulations to Lions Sherry Newcomer, Karey Singley and Chuck Vickery their wins.  They are all “in the running” for their next Lion year first quarter dues to be paid.

Our baby picture contest was a lot of fun and provided quite a few laughs when our Lion “cuties” were mistakenly identified.  Congratulations to Lion Karey Singley for correctly identifying 8 of the 12 photographs.  Lion Karey won the $25.00 gift card donated by Café del Sol.

Lion Jim Eles and I attended the WALL club picnic at Rotary Park on September 3rd.  The members were happy to have representatives of our club attend.  DG Barb Dudek, 1VDG Joel Leckron and 2VDG Curtis Alleman were also in attendance.

Lion Dave McCarney has proposed a new member for our club.  Mr. David Gossard is a Waynesboro Native and was approved for membership at our Board of Directors meeting.  We anticipate Mr. Gossard will be initiated at our November meeting.  DG Barb Dudek will be our guest speaker in November to celebrate our 96th Charter Night.

Also discussed at the September board meeting is the fact the Chamber of Commerce is changing their venue and time of the Business Expo.  The venue will be at the Otterbein Community Center & Recreation Center located on Welty Road and is scheduled to take place in April.  We have been notified they will be bringing food trucks in and have more family-oriented activities.  In the upcoming weeks, I will be speaking to the school district regarding the availability and possible costs to renting the kitchen and cafeteria for continuing our long-standing tradition.

Yours in Service,

King Lion Denise
