Warrenton Lions Club Presidents Report

2018 – 2019 Fiscal Year

The Warrenton Lions Club was very busy this past year (July 2018-June 2019).  We screened a little over 3,100 students in Fauquier County which resulted in 330 vision referrals and 239 hearing referrals in conjunction with Warrenton Sunrise and Remington Clubs.  We also took the Hearing & Sight Van to a retirement seminar in Culpeper Assisted by Culpeper 92 Lions Club) and one community event where we tested 45 individuals resulting in 10 vision referrals, 8 hearing referrals.

The Club collected over 1,500 pairs of used eye glasses for recycling and use by those in need.  And we approved eye glasses for 28 individuals and provided or helped pay for eye exams for those individuals and helped one person get a hearing aid.

Our club provided scholarships to two of Fauquier high schools and partnered with Fauquier Hospital Health & Wellness Center to conduct a Diabetes Screening and Awareness event at one of Fauquier County Food Distribution Coalition's monthly distribution.

All the money the Warrenton Lions Club collections from the public via various fund raisers (White House Ornament sales and Christmas Fruit sales to name a few) goes back to the public.  In addition to the above activities, we donate to many local organizations such as the Fauquier Free Clinic and the Fauquier County Boys & Girls Club.

We sold programs at the Fall International Gold Cup with the help of Culpeper Midday Club and Remington Lions Club. The assistance was greatly appreciated. This effort personified Lions Team Work. Thank you so much! After this event a decision was made to partner with Remington Lions Club going forward and this worked extremely well for the Gold Cup event that took place in the Spring. The public were pleased that the PINS were back on Sale again. We even sold some vintage pins.
