Waimea Lions Club Penhallow Scholarship
This scholarship is dedicated to Richard Penhallow, the last survivor of the original group of Lions who Chartered our club in 1955.
What:
$500 cash grant for college education with possible annual continuation
Eligibility:
-Eligible students must enroll in college Fall 2024 or Fall 2025
-Eligible students should be able to demonstrate a history of community involvement.
-Eligible students must go to school on the island of Hawai'i and have family located within 30 miles of Waimea, HI. Eligible students must graduate high school in 2024.
-Students will be nominated by their school by April 15th and will be interviewed by representatives of the Waimea Lions Club in the April/May time frame.
-No more than 2 students per school may be nominated.
Process:
Accept Nominations from each local high school (max 2 per school); arrange interviews with the nominees by a set group of 2-3 Waimea Lions Club members; have the interviewing members vote on a winner(s).
Results:
The winner will be announced no later than May 25th and the scholarship will be awarded at the Waimea Lions Club banquet, which will be held in July/August.
