Victoria Lions Club Projects

Everything we do & serve, our Lions Club function counts towards the Global Service. Every hour and number of persons served is tracked by our Lions Club and submitted to Lions International. As Lions, we know that we are Making a Difference. Lions International recognizes our Volunteer Work. Every year, they publish the Lion number of Hours and People Served. What a great way to show the Positive Work that happens in the World.

When you read our Club Projects and services, an Ah-Ha Moment may click in your mind! Something you like to do, can be added to the Global Service. We are looking for Like Minded Folks like you to join our Lions Club. If you only want to help out with volunteering with us, you can do it too! Our Lions Club has Directors Insurance that is paid by our Dues. We have meetings to document our due diligence and record our Projects & Services. The Dues also pays for Admin Costs. When a donation is made to a Cause, 100% is given towards the Service or Project. When the money is donated to a Foundation, a tax receipt is issued.

Majority of our Projects are local and support our Communities in the Greater Victoria area. We do not have borders and often help our neighbouring Lions Club when they need Service Assistance. A great way to meet people in our area and make new friends. Lions can be a Life Time Commitment.

On this page, we are showing you what we do:

Peace Poster Contest

Every year the Victoria Lions Club sponsors a Peace Poster Contest in the Victoria area Middle Schools having drawing a Peace Poster following the theme decided by Lions Club International.  Every year a winner is selected by each school and is forwarded to the District Governor for picking the winning poster to be sent on to a contest with winners from all the Districts in Washington and British Columbia where the winner is sent onto Lions International to be involved in a World Wide Contest.  A winning poster for the year is announced each year at the Lions International Convention at the end of June.

Lions Quest Programs

Our Lions Club has supported the Lions Quest Program for many years. Since 1987, Lions Quest Canada is the National provider for Lions Quest. The program teaches Children over 20 valuable Life Skills and reaches Children for Pre School to Grade 12. We train and supply the Educator with valuable Curriculum that is Canadian Content and approved by Provincial Governments throughout Canada. Over the years, Lions Quest Canada has trained over 50,000 Educators and persons involved in Before and After School Programs. There are huge benefits for the school, students, families and community when Lions Quest is taught at their local schools. It works very well with and supports programs. Consider it a tray that carries the silverware!!

Just announced recently, Lions Quest is rolling out a new program Lions Quest Youth Justice, which is a 16 week program for Youth in the Court System.

The best thing about Lions Clubs support for the Program is the availability of Lions Quest Grants from Lions Clubs International Foundation. We have an ongoing grant that will pay for 25 Educators to attend a 2 hour workshop and are supplied with their grade level curriculum.  https://LCIF Lions Quest Grants

For more information on Lions Quest Programs and sign up for Workshops and Webinars, please visit Lions Quest Canada at https://Lions Quest Canada

Just one more thing, one of our Lions Club Members is the Chairman for Lions Quest Canada Board of Directors, if you wish to contact him, please send us an email.

Soup Cans for Shelbourne Community Kitchen

Also Known As Our George Schellenberg Soup Campaign:

Every year the Soup Can Campaign was led by our esteemed Lion George, who recently past away. In memory of Lion George, we named the event in his Name.

Decemeber 2025 “Soup Campaign” for Shelbourne Community Kitchen was highly successful! Lion Glen reported that total cans donated tallied up at 1,558 and weighed in at 1,229 pounds!

Sincere thanks to Lion Glen for diligently tracking down “soup sales adverts” in local supermarkets!

Usually the Soup cans are delivered to the Shelbourne Community Kitchen during early December and is in conjunction with our Lions Club Christmas Party. In lieu of giving gifts, we donate money to this cause which we can purchase Soup Cans.
