Volunteer Efforts

(Hands On)

• Adopt A Highway

• Work at County Fair ticket booths & monitoring craft building*

• Delivered Meals on Wheels twice a week

• Provide Pet Rabies Clinic twice a year*

• Repaired screen door for an elderly resident 

• Built wheelchair ramp for a child with disabilities 

• Provide transport for sight impaired group to Tobias Game Farm, Millersburg Ferry, Ashland Tunnel, and Klinger family pool*

• Helped with property maintenance and tree planting at the TVHS Environmental site

• Tore down a dilapidated building next to Lion’s Den  

• Authored a $14500 grant in support of an Eagle Scout project to construct an all-inclusive playground at the Hegins/Hubley Elementary School  Delivered equipment for same project

• Authored a $10,000 grant to assist in replacement of roof at the Fountain Community Center*

Youth

• Conduct KidSight eye screenings at local schools

• Supported TV Library Reading Program

• Sponsor Peace Poster Contest 11-13 year olds at TVS District*

• Sponsor Outstanding Student of the Arts; awarded $50 to each recipient at TVHS Graduation Awards Nights*

• Provide two $500 scholarships to TVHS seniors at graduation*

• Supported 4 Boy Scout projects Eagle Projects at Mahantango Elementary School, Mahantango Fire House picnic tables, and Flag Recycling Box at the Lions Building*

• Support Schuylkill County Crippled Children each year*

• Send 2 to 4 Junior TVHS students to Camp Victory weekend Leadership training yearly

• Donated to wrestling tournament for awards

• Donated to Ads for Basketball Tournament

• Sponsored a Leo Club at TVHS

• Hosted students from Brazil, Czech Republic, Finland, Japan, Israel, and Peru

• Sent students to Germany, Spain, and Australia

• Send students to participate in the PA All State Lions Band

• Sponsored Breakfast with Santa

• Collecting Pennies for Leader Dog

Support for Families

• Received grant for device enabling vision for sight impaired*

• Worked with Secret Santa to identify and support families in need yearly*

• Work with hearing aid specialist providing free refurbished hearing aids to qualified persons*

• Provide Durable Medical Equipment loaners to the community*

• Paid for eyeglasses for students identified by the school as needing asistance

• Paid the electricity bill for a family from January through June

• Helped to purchase a car for a family with child with disabilities for transporting to the hospital

• Donated to families with major medical expenses

• Sent a disabled child and parents to swim with dolphins as a form of therapy

• Donated to several home fire victim families*

• Reconstructed home of a disabled child to make the doors wheelchair accessible and pad for child and caretaker to go to Beacon Lodge Camp

• Contributed to the cost of a wheelchair ramp for an adult

• Aided in obtaining a Paws4/Ability dog

• Sponsored Christmas with Re-Creation (All proceeds and membership fee to Re-Creation)

• Cooperation with Minersville, Tower City and Pine Grove Lions to assist Hurricane Katrina victims via Mississippi Lions

• Donated to Hurricane Helene victims via LCI

• Donated to VV Gun Club Bucktree Archery Club for PA Game Commission Grant match for MOETS building project*

• Work in conjunction with Across the Valley Organization in providing food to those in need throughout the local community*

• $11,000 NEPLSF/TVLC grant/donation to Fountain Community Association for building roof replacement in honor of PCC Ronald Dietz
