WORLD SIGHT DAY
KATE GREEN HOLDS HANDS WITH A LION.
Urmston Lions invited our local MP, Kate Green to join them in promoting World Sight Day in Eden Square, Urmston. The MP was blindfolded and given a tour around the Town Centre, accompanied by Lion Brian Black.
After her blindfold walk Kate Green said, “I was deeply affected by my blindfold walk through the town centre with Urmston Lions. Without Brian from the Lions holding my hand I’d have been too terrified to take a step. It really brought home to me how scary it must be to lose your sight. But it’s often avoidable, and that’s why I’m delighted to support the Lions’ sight health campaign”
World Sight Day is a global opportunity for Lions Clubs internationally to promote the need for Eye Health Care. The Lion President said, “Our eyes are so precious that we must all take steps to make sure we look after them. Regular consultations with your optician can detect the early signs of many sight and life threatening illnesses. Please, please get your eyes tested.” This comment was echoed by Bob Thomas-Carter from Thomas-Carter opticians, he said “We are glad of this opportunity to promote Eye Health with Urmston Lions, regular eye care is absolutely essential.”
