From 19th till 22nd of April, 2017, members and families of Athens Universe Lions Club visited Poland, in order to do a twinning with the new Lions Club Gentius of Warsaw. The ceremony took place on April 21st and included dinner, discussion about our Club's and our District's history and activities and a presentation regarding the reconstruction of Warsaw after its complete destruction during 2nd World war. Among the members of the Gentius Club was our previous President L. Klaus Boede, who is founding member, L. Iwona Nowak, PDG and L. Ewa Helka, second Vice DG 121, Poland. The social program was intensive and included visit to Krakow old city, Jewish quarters, Schindler’s Museum and the famous Wieliczka Salt Mines and in Warsaw the old and new town, the technology and dollhouses museums etc. We believe that this twinning will be a good opportunity for our Club for exchange of experience during the next years and planning of common projects and in general mutual support among our members.

On Sunday, 22nd of October our long planned excursion to Lavrio took place. We had very good participation, all Club's present members and some friends with their families joined the excursion so finally we were 22 adults and 14 children and all had a very good time. The weather was fine, we had the opportunity to see old friends, to see the very interesting mineral museum, the ancient theater of Thoriko plus the entrance of one ancient tunnel and finally we visited the archeological museum of Lavrio. After that, we had lunch by the sea and some of us swam and went afterwards for coffee at Kakia Thalassa beach.
We thank all the friends and specially the President of "Europi" Lions Club, Dr. Aias Papastaurou and his wife who joined us and advertized our event to his Club.
April 2016 - Spring Excursion at Kerameikos Archeological Site
Club Members, their families and friends joined a wonderful spring excursion to the Kerameikos Archeological Site. Dr Jutta Stroszeck, Chief Executive of the Kerameikos Archaeological Site of the DAI (German Archeological Institute) gave us a both interesting and amusing guided tour of ancient Athenian life.
After the tour we met for a small lunch together in a Taverna nearby to exchange on the magnificent impressions and thinking of our ancestors, who 2500 years ago might have enjoyed similar food and drinks at the very same place.
30 participants, among them 9 children, had a great and informative time
