2019 Donation to TREP

In January, 2019, out Lions presented a $700 check to TREP (Two Rivers Ecumenical Pantry) for the purpose of purchasing food for the ecumenical pantry. Years back, the local churches of Two Rivers and the Mishicot community combined efforts to organize TREP for the purpose of collecting donated food, bringing it to the pantry, where it is sorted and organized by volunteers. TREP then offers this ‘free’ food to families and individuals in the local area who qualify and are experiencing financial hardships due to unemployment, low income, etc.

Club members voted again this year to donate $250 to the "Sunday Supper", sponsored monthly by the churches of Two Rivers and held at St. Peter the Fisherman parish twice each month. The origin of the "Sunday Supper" dates all the way back to 1991. Presenting the check to Roxanne Dyzak (Coordinator of Elementary Faith Formation) is Lion Secretary Gerry Schmidt on January 2, 2019.

Eye Glass and Hearing Aid Collections

One the major projects of Lions International and our Wisconsin Lions is to collect used eyeglasses for distribution to people in foreign countries, especially those in Central America. The Wisconsin Lions have an Eyeglass Recycling Center located at the Wisconsin Lions Camp in Rosholt, where close to a million pairs of glasses are collected from Wisconsin Lions Clubs and sorted  each year for distribution around the world.  Lions from Wisconsin travel to Central America and the Caribbean islands on missions to distribute these glasses.  At this time the Lions no longer furnish eye glasses to the needy in Mexico due to the drug-related violence.

Lions also collect used hearing aids.  These used aids are then returned to our supplier for credit to purchase new hearing aids for needy Wisconsin residents.

The Two Rivers Lions Club has collection boxes are provided for used eye glasses and hearing aids at Piggly Wiggly and Pick'n Save stores in Two Rivers.

Mobility Medical Equipment Loan

The Two Rivers Lions, in cooperation with the Two Rivers Fire Department, have wheel chairs, crutches, walkers, etc. available for temporary loan at no charge to the local community who are convalescing or in rehab who have need of such equipment.  All equipment is available at the Two Rivers Fire Department station  located on the corner of 22nd and Monroe streets.
