The Tulalip Lions club was organized the spring of 2008 and we received our Charter on June 21, 2008. We believe we are the first Lions Club to be chartered on a Native American Indian Reservation.

Marysville Lions Club of Marysville, WA was our sponsor and we have worked in a close relationship from the very beginning.

Our very first project was a "KaBoom" build a playground in a day at the Tulalip Boys & Girls Club Located on the Tulalip Reservation and serves tribal and non tribal children from pre-school through high school. Our club members worked alongside other community groups to be able to finish up in that one day. This set the tone for our club, we would be very pro active where children's needs are concerned.

Each year we participate in the "Tulalip Boys & Girls Club"auction, providing a gift basket, attending and purchasing auction items as well as our $ 1000.00 donation. We are happy to assist in this one of their major events during the year.

The Tulalip Lions Club Shows its commitment to are youth in other ways, like providing free books and reading materials to children, parents and teachers. We found that if you own the book, you are more apt to read the book.

Like so many Lions Clubs around the world we sponsor the annual "Peace Poster" contest and we have seen many budding artists submit their work to use for judging. It is not always an easy task. They are all winners and we wish we could choose them all.

The club also participates in the Cystic Fibrosis Foundations "Great Stride Tulalip" along with other clubs from our Zone. One of our club members is the CFF Chairmen for our Zone B-6. Each year as the project gets bigger our commitment and need to have other involved has brought all of our clubs together for this rewarding project.

Assistance is provided to the elderly of our community in a number of areas, we find a need within the Tulalip Senior/Elder Programs then we step into action.

One of our first senior programs was to provide new "up to date" smoke detectors for each of their homes and also to get them installed and provide for them to be checked each year.

Another project that was popular with the seniors and elders was the Holiday Bingo Party that we provide at their center. Each person that came to the center won a door prize. The love their coffee mug filled with an assortment of teas and creamers and a 1 pound bag of premium coffee, along with cupcakes, juice, coffee and or tea.

On a monthly basis we donate household items, clothing, prizes for their weekly bingo games and snack following bingo as our supply allows.

We actively work with our local community to provide clothing, bedding and other needs for the homeless in our community, Tulalip Homeless Shelter, Everett Gospel Mission and the Everett Women's Shelter, as well as the Chief Seattle Club for in Seattle, WA .

As our club grows so do our list of project and needs of our community expand.

Like other clubs we do collect and recycle eye glasses and hearing aids, we we have gone the extra mile by collecting and recycling cell phones and have recently added recycling toner as part of our "going green", recycle projects. We receive credit for trees being planted when we recycle phones that can not be reused.

The Tulalip Lions Club is proud to say, 'WE SERVE !"
