The Thesaurus Project was started in 2013. Since then, we have continued to provide thesauruses to 3rd grade students at Northern Heights Elementary School. The goal of this program is to assist all students in becoming good writers, active readers, creative thinkers, and resourceful learners by providing them with their own personal thesaurus. The thesauruses are a FREE gift to each third grade student to use at school and at home for years to come. Educators see third grade as the dividing line between learning to read and reading to learn.
Eyeglass and Hearing Aid Recycling Our club collects used, unwanted eyeglasses and hearing aids through multiple collection boxes located throughout the area. If you have any old pairs of eyeglasses or hearing aids lying around your home, please take them to one of our collection boxes and we will recycle them and get them to a person in need. Each year our club collects approximately 1,000 pair of eyeglasses through this recycling program. Please help give others the Gift of Sight!

Halloween Party Each year our club holds a Halloween Party in October for local children. These events are known for games, treats, lots of laughter and refreshments for all.
School Vision Screening Members of our club, along with those of other clubs in Lions District 25B, travel to many schools in Northeast Indiana to conduct vision screenings for students. In 2018 alone, over 9000 students were tested and referrals given to approximately 11% for follow up care with an opthalmologist. Early detection of vision problems can lead to treatment and/or glasses as needed which in turn promote better success in school as well as more self-confidence and self-esteem.
