Donation of School Supplies to Native Child & Family Services of Toronto (School Year 2024-2025):
In response to the appeal from Native Child and Family Services of Toronto for backpacks for their September 2024 Kindergarten intake, the Toronto Kapuso Lions Club raised funds among its members. The Club decided to donate not only backpacks but also other school supplies such as pencils, crayons, markers, pencil cases, notebooks, drinking bottles, and tiffins.
Seven TKLC members, led by President Dr. Pepito (Nudge) Biclar and District Sandy Heeralal-Judhan, personally presented the backpacks with school supplies to the young children and their parents during the Mount Dennis Aboriginal Child and Family Centre Picnic at Topham Pond, Eglinton Flats in Toronto.
The joyful reaction and excitement of the children who were going to school for the first time made all the TKLC efforts in such a short time worth it. In our Club President's words, the activity "not only promoted Lionism but also showed our native brothers the hearts of Lions Club members."
In a show of appreciation, the recipient families invited the Toronto Kapuso Lions to their September Powwow, an invitation which the Club gladly accepted.
