Mourning the loss of Peter Struk who tragically died in Red Lake on Nov 10 2013.
Peter was a wonderful man who loved to surround himself with a lot of wonderful people where ever he went. He helped so many families when they were in need and so he inherited a few extended families with their thankfulness for his generous help.
He touched the lives of so many people and friends, and felt blessed and honored to have so many friends. He loved to coordinate fundraisers and raise money for charity groups and always loved to assist in community events and he was always so giving of his time.
He loved to travel and he recently discovered a passion for golf, and often mixed travel and golf together with friends to combine all of his pleasures.
Peter was born on Jan 15 1960 in Marathon Ontario. For the first five years of his life he lived in Port Coldwell Ontario and then moved to White River Ontario for 1.5 years. In 1967 he moved to Manitouwadge, Ontario where he spent much of his years growing up and gaining his education. He worked with his Dad at C.P. Rail for summers and part-time work doing track maintenance.
He then attended Confederation College from 1979-1982 to study Accounting and then Business Administration. While there, he was involved with numerous Student Council activities including Student Council President.
After Graduation, he started working at Noranda Mines in Manitouwadge, Ontario as a purchasing agent. When Noranda Mines closed in 1996, he decided to switch careers and moved into the Insurance business with Canada Brokerlink in Marathon Ontario for a few years. During this same time, he was also involved with Manitouwadge Town Council, and with the Manitouwadge Chamber of Commerce.
Missing his passion for Purchasing, he then moved to Thunder Bay in 1998 to work as a Purchasing agent at Bombardiere. He even enrolled in courses and completed his designation as CPMA which he was so proud to achieve.
He took pride in his work too and he always loved a new challenge. He changed jobs several more times throughout his career, within the Supply/Chain Management Industry which included a move to Balmertown/Red Lake in 2003 for Buyers roles at Dominion Mines , and Goldcorp, and then in January 2010 moving to Management roles at Sangold/GoldCorp in Bisset Manitoba , and most recently in Rubicon Mines in Red Lake, and then the tragedy struck.
Peter was predeceased by his Father Andrew Struk in 1993, Mother Katie Struk in 1997.
Peter will be forever missed by his sister Mary and her Husband Larry Kachan, and their family in Winnipeg, Wendy Locke of Thunder Bay and all her family, Auntie Helen-one of Peter's 'second' Mothers, and all the rest of his relatives in Yorkton Sask, Verda Dupuis-Peter's other 'second' Mother, and the extended 'Dupuis' family in New Brunswick, and all the too numerous friends to mention which were all so important to Peter some including Manitouwadge, Thunder Bay, Yorkton, Moncton, Red Lake and Balmertown.

Perrier, Robert "Bob"
June 2, 1929 ~
December 2, 2013
It is with great sorrow that the family announces the passing of their beloved father/grandfather Bob Perrier at the age of 84 after a lengthy struggle with several health issues.
Bob was born June 2, 1929 in Bouchette, Quebec and moved to Port Arthur at an early age. Bob attended Port Arthur Technical School and later became a journeyman master mechanic. He began his working career at the Port Arthur Shipbuilding Company in 1944 and a few years later tried his hand as an butcher for Chapples in Red Rock. He joined Babcock and Wilcox Canada Ltd. in 1951 as a boilermaker and for the next 12 years travelled all over Canada installing boilers. In 1955, as a member of the Catholic Young Peoples Group of St. Andrew’s Church, he met the love of his life and wife of 56 years, Jacqueline (Jacquie) Perrier. In 1963, he started with Abitibi-Price at the Thunder Bay paper mill and a year later moved to Smooth Rock Falls as Mechanical Superintendent of Abitibi’s Smooth Rock Falls pulp mill. In 1974, he returned to Thunder Bay with Great Lakes Paper where he stayed until his retirement in 1986. However, his retirement was short lived. He landed his dream job as a maintenance handyman at Shaw Bakery where he remained until his ultimate retirement in 1998. He was finally “Rolling in the Dough”!! In his spare time, he helped his wife Jackie with the family business, Pert’s Framing and art Gallery for over 18 years. Apart from 10 great years in Smooth Rock Falls, they were life-long residents of Thunder Bay.
Bob’s faith was very important to him. In 1947, he joined the Knights of Columbus and ultimately became a Fourth Degree Knight. In 1967, he became a member of the Lions Club and served in many executive capacities. As a member of the Lions Club, he was actively involved in many fund raising activities for local charities. He was presented with the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award for exemplary service to his club and the community for which it serves, a Lifetime Membership Award and was voted “Lion of the Year” several times. His family and friends meant the world to him and he always made an effort to stay in touch no matter where he was. He ran his version of the “Oval Office” out of his shirt pocket with his address book, cell phone and a couple of pens. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing with his family and friends when time and his health permitted.
Bob is survived by his sons Wayne (Judy), Claude (Sharon) and daughter Adele (Jim) Pacholczak and his very special grandchildren Robert, Ashley, Lauren (Nelson) Sidorski, Erika and Vanessa. Bob is also survived by his brothers Donald (Dawn) Perrier, Rudy (Margaret) Perrier, and his sister Margaret (Earl) Gore and by his sisters-in-law Agnes Junnila (Ed Arvelin), Georgette (Bernie) Baxter, Rosalie (David) Douglas. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Jacquie, his parents Eugene and Florence Perrier and his brother Fernand.
Funeral services for the late Mr. Robert Perrier will be held on Monday, December 9, 2013 with family and friends gathering in Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church for the Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM celebrated by Father Norbert Eyule. Private entombment will take place in Our Lady of Charity Mausoleum, St. Andrew’s Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday from 2:00 PM until 4:30PM in the EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma with the Vigil Prayers offered at 3:30 PM.
Should friends so desire, donations made in memory of Robert to the Children’s Wish Foundation, George Jeffrey Children’s Centre, St. Andrew’s Dew Drop Inn or a local charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
