Sun City Host Lions Household and Furniture Project:
Collect and resell donated household items, tools, and furniture to fund our various supported local charities. Items sold via FaceBook Marketplace and two "Parking Lot" sales at the Sun Cities Lions Foundation building located at 9451 N. 99th Ave.
Sun City Host Lions Aluminum Can Recycling Project:
We continue to recycle aluminum cans and sell them. All profits from this is given back to the community. This is a fund raiser for the Sun City Host Lions Club Charity Fund. We maintain two aluminum can bins located at 99th & Greenway, on the north side behind the shopping center and one at the front of the parking area at the Sun Cities Lions Foundation building at 9451 N. 99th Ave.
Salvation Army Bell Ringers Project:
In November and December each year the Salvation Army asks the Lions Clubs, other clubs, and individuals to volunteer to help them raise money for their year long support of needy persons. Our club signs up to work four days from 8:45am to 5pm in 2 hour shifts ringing bells and tending the Salvation Army “RED KETTLES”.
Flags for First Graders Project:
Each year in February and March our club goes to 8 elementary schools and presents each first grader with a small American flag with a base. We perform a ceremony that includes the brief history of the flag, flag care, and lead the class in the pledge of allegiance to the flag.
Sun City Phone Book Delivery:
Deliver approximately 3300 Sun City Phone books to Sun City residents each year.
White Cane Days Project:
Each year our club has an event to help the sight challenged. We sign up to work 2 hour shifts over four days (Friday/Saturday-two weeks) at an assigned business or store and all money collected goes to our Charity Fund to help buy exams and eyeglasses for those in need.
SCHOA Heath Fair Screening:
Coordinate and provide health screening at the Sun City SCHOA Health Fair. Sun City Host Lions screens for BMI, blood pressure, blood oxygen and glucose levels.
Re-Cycle Eyeglasses, Hearing Aids, and Cellphones:
Our Club also collects recycled eyeglasses and hearing aids and delivers them to the Sight and Hearing office in Phoenix for distribution to needy persons all over the world.
Semiannual Food Drives:
We partner with other Lions Clubs to conduct food drives, usually just prior to Easter and Thanksgiving holidays.
Packaging Donated Food for Valley View Food Bank:
Sun City Host Lions assists the Valley View Food Bank with packaging donated food for distribution when requested.
**Each member is encouraged to participate in as many of these projects as possible.**
