Centennial Project
The St. Albert Host Lions Club was pleased to complete a long-delayed Centennial Project at the Clean and Green RiverFest on September 25, 2021. Our club funded the purchase of 440 trees and shrubs, which were used to restore the river bank with native shrubs and trees. The City organized volunteers planters (and a cleanup crew). Lions also participated in the Environment Fair, held in the park adjacent to the planting area. The Lions Canada-wide Centennial Tree Challenge has resulted in the planting of an estimated 177,500 trees - this effort in St. Albert will increase that number by 440. Thanks to St. Albert donors who donated over 3,600 used eyeglasses in the past year at various business outlets that so willingly partner with the St. Albert Host Lions by having Lions Used Eye Glass Recycling donor boxes in their stores.
