I am often asked, "What is the Lions Club International and what is a Lion?" Although the Lions Club International is the largest service organization in the world with more than 1.4 million members in 49,000 clubs serving in 200 countries around the world, many people have no idea who we are or what we do. While many know that the Lions Club is involved with services involving the blind and sight-challenged, we do so much more. Our 8 Global Causes are Diabetes, Vision, Hunger, The Environment, Disaster Relief, Youth, Humanitarian, and Childhood Cancer. We respond to natural and man-made disasters as well as contributing funds to numerous national and local organizations to support eye banks, service dog training, health and sight screenings, and so many more local needs. Every cent donated to the Lions Clubs around the world and/or LCI & LCIF goes directly into services for the local communities where the clubs are located or to world-wide needs.
