The Spring Green Lions Club was chartered in 1949 and over the years have sponsored many community events that raise money for local charitable efforts. The club also is a Wisconsin Lions Club pioneer with its “twinning” relationship with a Lions club in Rivas Nicaragua started in 2001. The clubs jointly support a free eye clinic in Rivas and a high school student exchange program.
The club's most visible fund raising activities are food related, including a brat and hamburger stand at the Spring Green Art Fair, an annual February spaghetti dinner which benefits a different local non-profit organization each year and a food stand at the 4 PeteSake community picnic.
Working at the food events is one of our best opportunities for member participation and fun but we also have monthly business meetings from September thru May that are primarily devoted to allocating funds to local charitable projects. We also have speakers of interest at most meetings and more fun get-to-gethers , such as the annual `March Madness card party.”
