The objective of Listen Up! is to educate families and communities about early childhood hearing loss and provide free hearing screenings to children 2-5 years of age, in order to find deaf and hard of hearing children at an earlier age. The Listen Up! Roadshow is an informational event that explain the structured rollout, leadership, and the recruitment and training of volunteers in our district to serve on Teams. Each year in Virginia, young children who are deaf and hard of hearing fall behind because their hearing loss is identified late. This can lead to speech and language delays, poor cognitive growth, low early literacy skills and failure to thrive in school. Help make a difference!
