Our Service Activities

During Lion Year 2019-20, our main charitable effort continued to be our eye sight programs for children and adults. We provided eye exams and glasses for over 50 Spotsy adults and children in need totaling roughly $4,100 in services.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, we recognized a need in our community and applied for a Lions of Virginia Foundation (LOVF) matching grant, which delivered $6,000 to the Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank to provide meals to those impacted by the economic downturn.

To support local families and Spotsylvania County Public Schools, we donated $1,500 to the Homeless Student Fund which supports the School's Treasure House and other student needs. In addition, we - along with two other Spotsy-based Lions Clubs, Chancellor and Spotsylvania Courthouse 100 - responded to a community need in our County schools by purchasing a Goalball set for visually impaired students - bringing them greater opportunities to participate in recreation activities.

We were also able to provide a $1,250 scholarship to three Spotsy high school students. In addition, we served at the Fredericksburg Area Food Bank, supported the Spotsylvania Department of Social Services Adopt a Family for the holidays, and supported several Lions Charities that provided support to the community. We look forward to an even more successful upcoming year.

In Lion Year 2019-2020, our main fund raising events were our Adult Spelling Bee Contest, and Art and Wine Show. Due to the ongoing pandemic our annual golf tournament was postponed to the Fall of 2020.  We also sell White House Ornaments and have a Poinsettia sale around the Holidays to raise funds to provide services to the local community.
