Peanut Butter Chip Chase 5K Fundraiser Goes Virtual
Temple, NH – A total of 85 runners and walkers participated in the Souhegan Lions Club 1st virtual Peanut Butter Chip Chase 5K walk/run during the past week, helping the club continue its 43-year-old tradition despite the Covid-19 worldwide pandemic that has largely curtailed public sporting events.The virtual race allowed registrants to sign up virtually and run and walk wherever they wanted along a 5K course of their own design between Dec. 28th and Jan. 2 and to post times to the registration site, RunSignUp.Results can be found at: https://runsignup.com/Race/Results/67819#resultSetId-210381;perpage:100The race-related raffle drawing resulted in the award of numerous prizes, including the grand prize of a Fazer kayak to Melanie McDonald of Jaffrey. Donations topped more than $600.

The Club typically donates approximately $7,000 annually to various organizations in the Greenville, Mason, New Ipswich, and Temple communities, and to graduating area high school seniors.
Souhegan Lions Club wants to congratulate all the participants in last month’s inaugural Questival scavenger hunt and to thank all the area businesses whose donations who made this online app-driven fundraiser possible.
The club awarded prizes to approximately a half dozen teams who registered for the Questival using the app Scavify to scour the area looking for cultural and historical landmarks and hidden clues, answering quizzes, and exploring some of our area’s more beautiful conservation and hiking areas.
Participant teams (comprised of up to 6 individuals) registered via Eventbrite and then downloaded the Scavify app and quickly established free accounts so they could compete against each other over three days on more than 30 challenges.
The club undertook this type of non-traditional fundraiser due to public gathering restrictions imposed for the Covid-19 pandemic that continues to affect our country and much of the world. The club will be holding a virtual road race fundraiser this winter. Details will be forthcoming shortly.

Souhegan Lions Club will hold its first-ever QUESTIVAL app-driven scavenger hunt fundraiser Oct. 23-25 with teams using their phones to hunt for historical, cultural and other memorable places and things across the member towns of Greenville, Mason, New Ipswich and Temple. Challenges will include photo and video taking, as well as multiple-choice quizzes.

Top prizes include a painting party for up to 6 people with a gift certificate of pizza from Pizza Haven, Too in New Ipswich (a $150 value), and a New Hampshire State Parks gift card valued at $105 (the cost of a 2021 NH Residents’ family parks pass). Other family-friendly prizes include gift certificates valued at between $15-$50 from area businesses including Mason Brook Nursery, Monadnock Oil & Vinegar Co., The Driving Range in Mason, DetailDevil in Temple, NIX Gym in New Ipswich, New Ipswich Market, and the Temple Store.

The Souhegan Lions Club and the Red Cross are hosting a blood drive on September 12, 2020, 9-2, at space graciously made available by the New Ipswich Congregational Church, 156 Main Street, New Ipswich, New Hampshire.

We had some good weather and plenty of happy runners and walkers. A total of 139 participants came out for the noon race. Refreshments including hot soup, bagels and cookies served after in historic Temple Town Hall.
Paulette Parmenter won the raffle grand prize of a kyak. A number of complimentary passes to Pat's Peak Ski Area and Crotched Mountain Ski & Ride were raffled off, along with a number of other prizes including an Amazon Echo.

Temple, NH - The Souhegan Lions Club, serving the towns of Greenville, Mason, New Ipswich and Temple, sponsored a presentation on November 14 by Joe Byron, founder of Honor Flight New England, this past Thursday, November 14 in Temple. More than 43 people attended and were treated to a free meal and an explanation of what Honor Flight New England was all about. Having made 58 trips to Washington DC, sponsoring 2104 American Heroes at no cost to them, the evening was made very special by the attendance of PFC. John Antilla of Fitchburg, who served in the Mountain Division and was stationed in Italy during WWII. $575 was collected in donations to Honor Flight New England.
