SOMERSET PIONEER LIONS CLUB  ACTIVITIES/EVENTS

The following are some past and ongoing activities/events performed by the Somerset Pioneer Lions Club:

 

Crusade Against Darkness

Dog-A-Thon - performed in early May

White Cane Day - performed in early October

Recycle of Eyeglasses for Underprivileged in Mexico - ongoing

Finance Eye Exams and Glasses for Local Homeless and Needy - ongoing

Donate Vision Test Machine to the Pioneer School District - one time past event

 

Assistance To The Less Fortunate

Thanksgiving Food Baskets -assistance provided in mid November to the Pioneer Bible Church

Build Access Ramps for the Disabled - ongoing and performed as need arises

Contribute Cords of Wood to the Needy - ongoing and performed in cooperation with the Pioneer Bible Church

Acquired and Installed a Mobile Home for a Fire Victim - one time past event

Worked with local company to provide new roof on home of visually disabled person

 

Fund Raisers

St. Patrick's Day Dinner/Dance - performed in mid March

Lions Annual Zone Fundraiser - performed in April in cooperation with the Mother Lode and Placerville Lions Clubs for benefit of the El Dorado Center for the Visually Impaired

Halloweenie  Dinner/Dance - performed in late October

Wood Cutting Projects -  ongoing

Food Coupon Books - one time past event

Serve Pancake Breakfast for benefit of El Dorado Center for the Visually Impaied (performed monthly with Placerville and Mother Lode Lions Clubs) - past monthly event

Tend Bar and Food Concession at Various Local Events (e.g. Fanchers Horse Shoe Touaments) - ongoing

Old Fashioned Get-Together - annual event at D'Agostini pond held in June - ongoing

Turkey Shoot - annual event performed in November

Winery/Lions Joint Venture - future possibility

Rental of Tables and Chairs - ongoing

 

School Support

Carter/Webster Memorial Scholarship Fund - ongoing awarded in 1st quarter of year

Backpacks and School Supplies - ongoing at Indian Diggins, Pioneer and Mountain Middle Schools

Pancake Breakfast for the Pioneer Union School District - one time past event

Interactive White Board for Grizzly Pines School - one time past event

Flag Day - annual presentation at local schools - held in February

 

Community Service

Fair Play Cemetery Maintenance - performed in mid May

Lodge Hill Cemetery Maintenance - one time past event
