Ever since Helen Keller inspired us to champion the cause in 1925, we’ve served and advocated for the blind and visually impaired. Nearly a century later, this long-standing mission continues unhindered.

In Sidney and the surrounding areas, our club partners with the Richland County Health Department to provide PlusOptix vision screenings in our area schools while the Health Department staff provide hearing screeings. Our club screen over 600 school age children (mostly 1st & 2nd graders), with a 15% referral rate to have the child seek a further eye exam.

Additionally, we provide assistance for eyeglasses and hearing aids when requested. If you would like to be considered for financial assistance our forms are availble by request. Please email to our club sidney.lions.club@gmail.com and we will respond with our application for you. Upon receipt, we will review with our Club Officers and respond back to you with in 3-5 business days.

We also collect used glasses to be evaluated. The usable glasses will give new life to someone in need. We have several location around Sidney. When our Lions or Leos collect the glasses they are boxed and shipped to a Lions Recycle Eyeglass Center.

Please reach out to us if you have any questions.
