In 1925 Helen Keller attended the Lions International Convention in Cedar Point, Ohio and challenged the Lions to be "Knights of the blind in this crusade against darkness" .

Sedro-Woolley Lions honor this role by helping with school vision screenings, prevention of diabetes education, assistance to those in need who are blind and to those with vision impairments and vision restoration.
