Our Motto is "We Serve!"
Here are just some of the ways that the Scenic Hills Lions serve our community and those in need.
Safety Town - The members of our club are happy to Sponsor and Support Safety Town at Barlow in early June each year where kids are taught bike and pedestrian safety as well as other practical lessons.
Helping our Youth - We provide scholarships to Warren High School students. We proudly sponsor students to both Boys & Girls State and also sponsor a student each year to the World Affairs Seminar in Wisconsin.
Poinsettia Delivery to our Seniors - We deliver over 100 beautiful poinsettias to area senior citizens in early December to help spread some Christmas Cheer.
Barlow Fair - Each year we organize the parade and operate a food booth at the fair. We also pay to have the grass cut and maintained at the fairgrounds walking track.
Eyeglass Collection - The Scenic Hills Lions Club collects used eyeglasses in order to recycle them for use in developing countries where eyecare and access to glasses is extremely limited. We have collection boxes in a variety of places around town.
Why do we send the glasses to foreign countries and not give them to the needy in America? Because it is illegal in the US to give someone the prescription of someone else.
Charities We Support - Besides the projects above, our club donates money annually to a variety of good causes, including:
- Ohio Lions Pilot Dogs
- Camp Echoing Hills
- Diabetes Awareness Research
- Ohio Lions Band
- Western Washington County Food Bank
- 3C Food Pantry
- Ohio Lions Foundation
- Lions Clubs International Foundation
- Ohio Lions Eye Bank
- Ohio Lions Eye Research Foundation
- Many other great causes.
Eye Exams & Glasses - We purchase numerous eye exams and eyeglasses each year for area residents in need.
