CALL FROM LOW-SIGHTED AND BLIND INDIVIDUALS WHEN THEY NEED HELP...
CALL FOR SIGHTED VOLUNTEERS WHEN AVAILABLE WHO WANT TO HELP...
A Denmark firm has an innovative smart phone app (FREE download for iOS or Android from Google Play or from https://www.bemyeyes.com) that helps low-sighted and blind people. It's called Be My Eyes.
Imagine that a person wants to check a food expiration date, or needs help with reading instructions, or choosing a color to wear, or ends up in new surroundings. Now they call a sighted volunteer via the Be My Eyes video call app (works like Facetime) and using their camera to share their "view", so that the volunteer can deliver immediate help.
Be My Eyes bridges cultures and languages across more than 150 countries and 180 languages. Its Volunteer community consists of more than 1,500,000 people to help nearly 90,000 registered blind and visually impaired individual users to lead more independent lives.
Be My Eyes recently won:
- 2018 Google Play Award
- Google Play’s Best Apps of 2017
- World Summit Award 2017 and more.
