Today, Mission Lions Club includes long-time members who originally came from other clubs such as Tierrasanta and Clairemont as well as newer members who were invited to join by existing club members.
Currently Mission Lions Club members spend many hours volunteering for and supporting Lions In Sight, The Blind Community Center of San Diego, Meals on Wheels, The San Diego Humane Society, The Lions Student Speaker Contest, and the Lions Optometric Vision Clinic.
Club Members decorate and deliver about 90 Christmas Stockings to underprivileged preschool children every December.
Santa is Surrounded by pre-schoolers with so many questions!
Past fundraisers have included cooking breakfast for the Hydroplane races on Mission Bay, Delivering Valentine’s day flowers on Valentine’s Day, providing breakfast for Special Olympics athletes, and making sack lunches for the SPORTS for Exceptional Athletes annual swim meet.
If you would like to visit us and find out more, please join us for a meeting. We generally have a scheduled speaker or program for each meeting. Examples are Paws for Purple Hearts, Canine Companions for Independence, Second Chance (retraining for the work force), San Diego River Foundation, Reality Changers, Better Business Bureau, Mission Trails Park. Upcoming speakers will include the Homeless Teen Shelter, Stand Up for Kids.
