Welcome to the Royal Oak Lions Club

 

We are a Lions Club in the greater Victoria Area on Vancouver Island in the Province of British Columbia in Canada. The Royal Oak Lions Club was chartered on February 28, 1975 under the leadership of President Doug Crosby.  Our sponsoring Lions Club was the Victoria Chinatown Lions Club.  The Zone Chairperson when The Royal Oak Lions Club was chartered was Lion Ed Chow (District Governor 1983-1984) and the District Governor was Lion Chuck Mowbray of the Victoria Central Lions Club.

We are currently in District 19-I and Zone 2 consisting of ten Lions Club and two Lioness Club.

The Royal Oak Lions Club has had three Zone Chairpersons:

1982 - 1983 Lion John Porteous (Life Member Royal Oak Lions Club)

1989 -1990 Lion Bill Wright

1991 - 1992 Lion George Hulme

The Royal Oak Lions Club has had one District Governor:

1990 - 1991 Lion John Porteous

 We have spent the last year reviewing and establishing a strategic plan and mission statement for the Royal Oak Lions Club.

 

Our Mission Statement

"The Royal Oak Lions are a service minded organization helping to build an active, healthy, and substainable community through funding support, developing projects, and volunteer efforts."

"We strive to create positive activities for youth, build comminity. and improve health awareness especially concerning diabetes, sight and hearing.

"Through contributions to Lions International we provide funding for medical intervention in third world countries and aid in times of natural disaster."
