Celebrating a 50 Year Partnership
On the tenth of December the Rocklin Lions Club celebrated a fifty year partnership with Boy Scout Troop 29. Troop 29 has been chartered by the Rocklin Lions Club since 1957. The Rocklin Lions also charter Cub Scout Pack 29. Rocklin Lions International is also the leading chartering organization of Boy Scout Troops and Cub Scout Packs in the world.
Among those present were Lions Shane and Sarah Leverenz, Lion Max Best, Lion Victor Tulbure, Lion John Lehman, Lion Allen Richards, Lion George Snyder, Lions Dan and Clara Taylor, and Lion Roy Rukhala. Lion Rukhala is the only surviving charter member of the Lions Club and he was also the first Scoutmaster of Troop 29 when they moved to Rocklin.
Presenting certificates to the Lions Club were Rocklin Mayor Scott Yuill and the Rocklin City Councilmembers,Troop 29 Scoutmaster Sandor Tiche, Placer County Supervisor Robert Weygandt, and Assemblyman Ted Gaines. The certificates awarded to the Lions Club were for there continuing service to the Rocklin community as an individual group, and also for their joint efforts in particpating in community-improving projects and service events with Boy Scout Troop 29 and Cub Scout Pack 29.

Lion District Governor Vivian Cline-Shinn presented a special award from Lions Internation to Lion Allen Richards for his work in eye glass collection. She also presented the Rocklin Lions Club with District 4C5 award for achievement in the 2010 term.
Lion President John Lehmann presented Charter Member Roy Ruhkala with his 55 year service in recognition of his Lionism.
The Lion President then gave the Lion of the Year award to Lion Victor Tulbure for his fine leadership and enthusiastic help in eye glass collection, visitations, White Cane Days, Assist-A-Soldier Day, Sierra 100 Race, yard sale help, Lion-BSA steak feed and being Tail Twister.
