On-going projects
Our projects are a balanced mix of fundraising in the pursuit of worthy causes, and community support and engagement in the service of our local communities. Examples of our projects are as follows: We are a very busy club with many opportunities for members to participate throughout the year.
Toasty Tuesdays at Varsity Junior College is where we supply toast to the students every Tuesday. All volunteers must have a blue card to participate
At Kings Community Care every Thursday 4 Lions go to Kings Community Care, Reedy Creek where they sort fruit, vegetables, meat, bread, and tinned goods. These are then made into meals and hampers for the disadvantaged in the community. They are always looking for help for this.
The Leos club at Robina High School, one of our Lions Club members looks after this group. They are very active at the School and also assist us when required on the larger projects.
At Lions Haven for the Aged, two of our Lions are on the Board of this nursing home. We also assist them when required for any special events
Foster Care Childrens Christmas Party. is one of the major highlights of our year We raise money for this each year with projects such as the Bunnings BBQ’s. We then assist on the day with cooking a BBQ, looking after food, drink supplied, and generally assist Family Services wherever there is a need. There are usually about 300 attendees
This project involves Recycled eyeglasses from local optometrists, then packing them up and sending to Brisbane for grading at the Redcliffe facility and Womens prison, then distribing to those in need or Third World Countries.
Titans NRL Home Football Games – we sell footy doubles at all the local Titans Football Games and receive half the proceeds with the other half going to junior football. Always looking for more help with this.
A Movie Carnival for disadvantaged and special needs children/carers/parents. We distribute movie tickets to all local community groups, children arrive and receive free popcorn, soft drink, and a lucky door ticket. They watch one of the two movies available on the day, and titans junior football players sign posters for the children. We do all the work on the day, collecting tickets, serving drinks, popcorn, distributing prizes and then help clean up the cinemas afterwards. Lots of popcorn on the floors!!!
School Awards for local schools, in recognition of their involvement in community work.
Catering for community concerts, the army band concert, and any other function which we are asked to do in partnership with Gold Coast Council and other local community groups..
And of course, the famous and usual Bunnings BBQ’s every month and on other special occasions such as Mothers' and Fathers' days.
