Lions Chicken Dinner

The Riverside Township Lions Club will hold its annual Chicken Dinner fundraiser from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday May 4 in Riverside Township Hall, 27 Riverside Road, Riverside. Tickets, costing $20 per person, will be available in advance from any Riverside Township Lions Club member or at the door. In addition to delicious fried chicken, the menu includes cole slaw, mashed potatoes and corn. Coffee, punch and dessert also are included. Attendees are encouraged to bring used eyeglasses to support Lions Clubs’ mission to provide repurposed eyeglasses for those in need. With the help of various medical missionaries, these recycled eyeglasses are distributed in Central and South America and around the world. When the eyeglasses arrive in these countries, doctors and technicians conduct eye exams and provide a free pair of prescription eyeglasses that are as close as possible to that person’s sight needs. The Riverside Township Lions Club also donates to organizations that provide services to the blind and deaf, as well as to organizations that assist children and adults who are disabled or have special needs. Financial support also is provided to a number of local charities and organizations. Lions International has been a champion in helping combat vision impairment and blindness since 1925. The Riverside Township Lions Club was founded in 1948 and meets monthly.
