The Riverdale Community Lions Club was chartered in 1945 as the Forest Lions Club. Forest Lions club sponsor was the Arlington Lions Club.

In the winter months of 2009 a reorganization period took place to increase membership and to come up with a new name. The Forest Lions Club got their newly re-chartered name of Riverdale Community Lions in February of 2010. With the name change, Riverdale Community Lions Club serves a larger area in the Riverdale High School district where their are no Lions Clubs like Mt. Blanchard, Patterson, and other smaller villages in the Riverdale area. In March of 2010 the Wharton Lions Club in District 13B with their club troubles, closed and transferred their members to the Riverdale Community Lions club making a stronger and larger club to serve the Riverdale area.
