LOVE BOX PROJECT

One of the first major projects the club took on in its Charter Year (2006). A project that is neither unique nor new, but is known nationwide and even globally under various names. The Club decided to stick with "Love Box" as the name, as each one is packed and distributed with love. Its focus is to ease the suffering of traumatised children during those crucial hours and days of the trauma. Trauma include abuse, abandonment, death of parents, major illness etc. The project literally started with shoe boxes with 5 basic items, being soap, wash cloth, toothbrush, toothpaste and a soft toy. The project grew to include, sweets, colouring book, crayons, porridge, seasonal clothing and in some cases underwear due to it being taken in for evidence during abuse cases and are often also age and gender specific based on the need. The project now consists of the items in a sturdy plastic travel box or a bag. Corporate Companies who have contributed significantly to the sustainability of the project include are AngloGold Ashanti, AVENG Grinaker-LTA, Afrisam, Foskor and the Dis-Chem Foundation to mention a few. It now has expanded to include adult woman. The Project services the greater Potchefstroom, North West, other provinces and even as far as Malawi.

BRIGHTSIGHT

Scripts for less fortunate individuals are processed at the central office in Gauteng and delivered within a week or two to the recipient.
