PCSP Lions are active in many different humanitarian areas, working to improve our town, province, country, and our world!!!
Some of our recent service projects include:
- Giant Facebook auction which raised sufficient funds for a wheelchair conversion kit for a family's mini-van.
- Donation to the quiet room at Beachy Cove Elementary.
- Donation of new lectern to Brookside Intermediate.
- Support for local families experiencing hardship at Christmas.
- Collection of thousands of gently used eyeglasses for recycling.
- Fundraising and new lectern for our new community school.
- Christmas party for residents of Murphy's Shady Rest.
- Participation in local free eyeglass clinics.
- Purchase of power wheelchairs, an assistive lift, a vehicle lift, a supportive chair, a Scoot Mobility Rider and gaze recognition technologies for 5 families with disabled children in our town;
- Major sponsor of the PCSP Winter Carnival;
- $7000 to support older adult fitness in PCSP through equipment purchases;
- $5000 to support the Raise It Up campaign by Rainbow Riders;
- The purchase of service dog "Gladys" through the Lions Foundation of Canada;
- Cooking for residents of Ronald McDonald House;
- Providing aid for medical travel for an expectant mother, a transplant candidate, a dialysis patient, a child with a rare disease;
- Thousands in support for the Cerebral Palsy association, the Kids Eat Smart Foundation, Bridges to Hope, the Autism Society, the Lion Max Simms Memorial Camp, Janeway Children's Hospital, the Canadian Diabetes Association, PCSP Girls Auxiliary, PCSP Girl Guides, Killick Coast Games team, Wabana Boys and Girls Club;
- Participation on vision and eyeglass missions to Haiti and Nicaragua in partnership with Team Broken Earth, the Lions district and the Lions Clubs of Baccalieu, Mount Pearl, Goulds, MUN Campus and Come By Chance; and,
- Providing assistance to 4 families stricken by house fires.

Fundraised and supplied a $5000 assistive lift for a young woman from our community.
Supplied Beachy Cove Elementary with nearly 2000 new floor protectors for classroom chairs - assisting children with hearing and speech difficulties and reducing floor maintenance.
Donations to Lions Clubs International Foundation for disaster relief.
Annual assistance to our local churches to purchase Christmas food hampers.
Participants in the PCSP Christmas Parade.
Support for families affected by the Fort McMurray wild fires.
Sponsoring children in the Air Canada Dreams Take Flight program.
Financial support for the "Beachy Cove App" - enhancing connectivity between parents and our community school.
Financial support for a child from PCSP to assist with medical travel needs.
$600 to a local blind athlete to attend an Atlantic Canadian sporting event.
Assistance to a local student traveling on an international environmental research vessel.
Support for our national Dog Guide program.
Support for our Guide and Scout movements.
Twice-yearly donations to the Bell Island Food Bank.
Nearly 5000 pairs of used eyeglasses processed and forwarded to our distribution centre with help from Beachy Cove Elementary students.
Assisted the Canadian Cancer Society with Daffodil sales.
Funding for our town regattas.
Hosting a Purina "Walk for Dog Guides" in aid of the Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guide program.
Partnering with the Canadian Council of the Blind and sponsoring a blind athlete to attend a sports competition in New Brunswick.
Financial assistance for a recovering stroke victim from PSCP.
Participated in the Lions International Reading Action Program by purchasing books from Beachy Cove Elementary's book fair and sending them to St. Peter's Academy in Black Tickle Labrador.
Financial support for the Lions International Measles Initiative
Financial support for a fellow Lion from St. John's traveling to Guatemala on a relief mission.
Sponsored the Lions International Peace Poster Contest at BCE.
One of our Lions constructed and donated a table bowling set for the Canadian Council of the Blind with materials donated by the club and local businesses.
Financial support for the Cerebral Palsy Association of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Dozens of volunteer hours with Canadian Council of the Blind lawn bowling, games night and the CCB Sports and Recreation Weekend.
Donated to the St. John's Health Care Lions Club's Vellux Pillow Case project, providing comfort to cancer patients at our local hospital.
Ran a successful "name the mascot" contest at BCE, providing a magic show and visit from the mascot to the winning class.
Financial assistance to an expectant couple to travel for medical needs.
Donations to Beachy Cove Elementary School to cover a new SmartBoard.
Donation of a fully inclusive swing for the new BCE playground.
Helped send two children to Ostomy Camp in Ontario.
From 2009-2011 we sponsored full membership in MedicAlert for all students entering Beachy Cove Elementary with life threatening medical conditions.
Special Needs Dog purchased in 2009, 2014 at a cost of $10K each.
Every year, the Club sends a vision impaired person to the Lion Max Simms Camp.
We sponsor an annual Easter Bonnet contest and card game for our Town.
Each year we present an award to a Grade 6 student of Beachy Cove Elementary who exhibits humanitarian traits in line with those of Lions International.
We also support the Lions Hearing and Speech initiatives, and the Lions Diabetes Cavalcade.
