- Pondicherry Light House adopted the two girl children of an young widow, having no support except her meager earnings through odd domestic jobs, to educate them. This year Rs. 17480 was spent for their books, uniform and school fees.
- Kum Deepa, who topped in X class public examination among all Puducherry government schools, was awared Rs.3000 cash as an encouragement and appreciation of her performance.
- The inmates of SHARON, a home in Puducherry, for old aged and neglected by their kith and kin, were helped with dhothi, saries and towels, and two rice bags.
- Mr. Karunamurthy, a glaucoma patient, who does not have any income what so ever and depends purely on a distant cousine, was given financial assistance towards his medical expenses.
- Twenty chairs were presented to UKG and LKG students of the Govt.Primary School, Vennilanagar, Pondicherry.
- Bed sheets were presented to ten poor people.
- Monetary assistance was given to a girl student studying 7th standard.
- Financial assistance of Rs.1000 each was given to five poor young widows having children and finding difficult to manage their home.

Christmas was celebrated with the inmates of Anne Blanch Alphonsa Home, Ariyankuppam for which Thiru Anand, Chairman, Municipal Corporation, Ariyankuppam was the chief guest. Big Christmas cake was cut and distributed to the inmates by him while the club members with their spouses attended the celebration. Later, bed sheets were distributed to the poor inmates of the home who were very happy.

On 24th January, during one of our routine visits to aged Home, we extended help to Annai Blansh Alphonsha Old Age Home, Ariyankuppam, Pondicherry. As per the requirement of the Home, two night gowns and a towel were distributed to each of the women inmates.

On 26th January 2010, Lions Club of Pondicherry Light Hoouse celebrated Rebuplic Day at the Government Primary School, Vennila Nagar, Pondicherry. After hoisting the National Flag, staff, students and parents have assembled. Quiz competition for the children was conducted. Our club has presented cash prize of Rs.300, Rs.200 and Rs.100 to winner, runner and third place teams in addition to the prizes given by the school. Girls have presented a cultural programme to whom, our member, lion Jayabalan presented Rs.300 and encouraged the children. At the end all the children were given sixteen shade crayon packet each and a globe to the school. With National Anthem the celebration was concluded.

On 31st January, Lions Vijayakumar S, Jaya Vijayakumar, Kalaiselvi, Femina Ganapathy, Ramesh Babu, Siva, Sreenivasulu G, Kowsalya, Annamalai, Sravanthi and Ranga Rao joined to have a family tour to Thiruvennainallur to have a darshan of Lord Eswar. Inter club meeting was held at 7 pm same day with the Lions Club of Thiruvennainallur and Kacharapalayam in a kalyana mandapam.

On 23rd March, Lions S. Ranga Rao, G. Sreenivasulu, S. Vijayakumar, S. Sethupathy, Dr. S. Vivekananda, T. kalaiselvi, Baskaran, T. Nagendra Prasad, Bhaskar, K. Ramesh and Paulraj went to Sarathi Home For Aged at Ariyankuppam, Puducherry. There they interacted with the inmates of the Home and management. Later they donated plastic mats to the inmates of the Home as per their requirement. They also promised to fetch them a pedestrial fan and a cot.

On 28th March, Lions Club of Pondicherry Light House organised a blood donation camp at Holy Spirit Church, Tagore Nagar, Puducherry-8 from 9-30 AM. Rev. Fr. Tharsius Arokiasamy inaugurated the camp. Chief Guest, Lion Jayashree Murugesan, District Chairperson attended the camp while the guests of honour, Rev. Fr. Chinnappa Raj Desam, Lion K. Ravikumar, Zone Chairperson, Ln. S. Vijayakumar, District Chairperson graced the occasion. Lions Ranga Rao, Sreenivasulu, Ramesh Babu, Nagendra Prasad, Bhaskar, Dr. Vivekanaanda, Annamalai, Kalaiselvi, Femina, Prabagaran and the staff of Indira Gandhi Govt. General Hospital and Post Graduate Institute have also participated. In all 48 units of blood were donated.

On 7th April Pondicherry Light House had a DINE WITH DIVINE program at Sarathi Home for the Aged, Ariyankuppam, Pondicherry during lunch hour. Lunch was arranged for all the inmates and staff of the Home from a hotel and served at Home. In all thirty five have enjoyed.

On 13th of June, a general medical checkup for the aged inmates of Sarathy Home for the aged, Ariyankuppam, Puducherry was held. Ln. Dr. Vivekananda conducted the checkup with the help of the other lions and medicines were despenced. Four inmates were recommended for cataract surgery.

- Education assistance of Rs.27500 was provided to 4 students.
- Rs.4500 was spent to purchase a pedestrial fan and cot for the welfare of the inmates of Sarathy Home for the Aged.
- Rs.1500 was spent for the lenses of two senior citizens for whom cataract surgery was done free of cost by Aravind Eye Hospital.

Tree plantation was done at the bank of a temple tank near a village, Kandarakottai, Tamilnadu in the presence of the Village Panchayat Head. One hundred seedling were planted and persons were entrusted the work of watering the plants regularly. About 15 lions and 10 village people participated. Rs.5000 was spent for the project.

District Governor, MJF Lion P. Kuppusamy had his visitation to our club at Andhra Maha Sabha, Pondicherry at 7 PM on 18th December during which occasion, the following service projects were undertaken.
- As part of Don Bosco Church's programme to provide new dress to the children of orphanage, our club provided dress for 15 boys at a cost of Rs.3300.
- Bed sheets were given to ten poor old people, for protecting themselves from the winter, at a cost of Rs.2890.
- Note books were provided at a cost of Rs.1310 to poor students who badly needed them.
- A submersible motor costing about Rs.2500 was presented to a poor agriculturist.
- Rice and provisions worth Rs.2000 were given to two poor families

RO and UV water purier plant worth Rs.12000 was donated to Anbu Nilayam, Reddiar Palayam, Pondicherry in order to provide pure drinking water for its inmates who are mostly aged persons.

One pair of eye donation was made to Jothi Eye Care Foundation, Pondicherry and the club has given Rs.1000 to the deseased family.

Blood donation camp was organised with the help of Indira Gandhi Government Hospital and Post Graduate Institute, Pondicherry at Holy Spirit Church, Tagore Nagar, Pondicherry. About fifty units of blood was collected from the donors from the neighbourhood. Rs.3000 was spent in arranging the camp.

As a permanent project, toilets and wash basins were provided to the children of the Government Primary School, Vennila Nagar, Pondicherry. The club has spent Rs.45000 for this project.

New office bearers with Ln. Ramesh Babu M. as president, Ln. K. Ramesh as secretary and Ln. Tamizharasan as treasurer were installed on 3rd July for the year 2011-2012. On the occasion the following projects were done.
- Rs.30000 were spent towards yearly school fees, books, uniform for the two girls adopted by the club.
- Rs.1500 worth of note books were distributed to poor students.
- Rs.500 each financial assistance was given to two poor students.
- Rs.2500 was spent to provide sports uniform to the students of a Govt. High School in the neighbouring village.
- A Siemens hearing aid worth Rs.7500 was given to a teenaged poor girl who want to do a job in desk top printing and support her family.
- A tricycle worth Rs.5000 was given to a polio affected young man who cannot walk so as he can move freely and make some earnings

Independence Day was celebrated at Bharani Kalvi Nilayam, a middle school, Kakkayanthope, Ariyankuppam, Pondicherry. The National flag was hoisted by the club president, Lion M. Ramesh Babu. All the one hundred children were presented writing material like pen, note boois, pencil, etc. and biscuit packets. The teachers were honoured. At the end children of the school presented acultural show.
The same day, members of the club have pinned mini National flags to the upper garments of about 2000 persons who were passing by the market place at Ariyankuppam, Pondicherry to spread the nationalism and bring awareness about the lionism.

As part of district efforts to reach the international target of one billion tree plantation to protect environment, our club planted 500 sapplings at the Government Primary Health Centre, Murungapakkam, Pondicherry. Dr. Vijaya Bharathi, Dy. Director and Dr. M.V.R. Murthy, in-charge doctor were the guests on the occasion. The staff at the centre and residents of the quarters came forward to take care of the plants.

Mother Theresa Day was celebrated at Hona John High School, Thirukkoilur, where in physically challenged and orphan children are getting residential education upto 10th standard. The school is recognised by the government and the students after completion of 10th are getting admission in ITI and plus one. The club members shared the feelings of teachers and students and provided special lunch for all of them. Later the club has helped providing some water proof material to cover for protecting their place from rain and dust.

Dine with Divine: On the occasion of the wedding day of our charter president, Lion S. Vijayakumar, the club had a programme of dine with divine at Anbu Nilayam, Reddiyar Palayam, Pondicherry. The inmates of the Nilayam are all women and mostly neglected by their families and orphans. A special lunch was provided to hundred odd inmates and staff of the Nilayam on the occasion.

Installation function of new officers for the year 2012-2013 was held at 7pm on 1st July 2012 at Andhra Maha Sabha, Pondicherry. Lion K. Paulraj as president, Lion T. Bhaskaran as secretary and Lion S. Prabhakaran as treasurer of the lions club of Pondicherry Light House were installed by PMJF Lion V. Rathinasabapathy, Past Multiple Council Chairman in the presence of MJF Lion M. Thanigachalam, Past Multiple Council Vice-chairman. Lion M. Agarchand, District Chairperson, inaugurated the service projects while MJF Lion R. Mouraly, GLT Leader, inducted the new members to lionism. Lioness D.C. Lion Ms. Geetha Kamalakannan and Leo D.C. Lion Arivouli, P.R.O. Lion Kamalkishore Jain, Region Chairperson, Lion Murugappa, Zone Chairperson, Lion S. Siva were the other dignitaries on the stage. During the occasion, the following service projects were done:
- Rs.40000/- educational assistance for two young sisters, daughter of Ms. Gowri, adopted by the club for their life long education, given in the form of yearly school fees, books, uniform etc. This is the fourth year.
- In order to encourage sports, a sum of Rs.10000/- was presented to Ms. Suganthi, a power lifter, in support of her participation in world competitions.
- Rs. 3000/- was spent for educational assistance and notebooks for poor students.
- Rs. 3000/- was spent for distribution of bed sheets and rice for poor people.

Students of the school presented cultural events for about an hour following which all the teachers were honoured and the students were presented with notebooks, pens, pencils and biscuit packets.

Mother Theressa Day was celebrated at Baby Sarah Home, Kakkayanthope, Pondicherry on 26th August 2012. About eighty five challenged and destitute children of age groups are living in the home. All of them were served with a special lunch on the occasion. Lions K. Paulraj, S. Prabhakaran, T. Kalaiselvi, M. Tamizharasan, K. Ramesh, G. Sreenivasulu, S. Ranga Rao, S. Vijayakumar, V. Natarajan, D. Balasundar, K. Noble and E. Dhandapani participated in the celebration.

Teachers Day was celebrated at the Govt. Hr. Sec. School, Koodapakkam, Pondicherry at 3pm on 5th September 2012. The school was selected because of the cent per cent results in tenth and plus two examinations of 2012. Vice-Principal welcomed the gathering and Lion K. Paulraj gave his presidential speech. PMJF Lion Prof. S. Ranga Rao and Lion S. Vijayakumar addressed the staff and students suitably for the occasion. Lions G. Sreenivasulu, S. Prabhakaran, K. Ramesh, D. Balasundar, M. Rajendiran participated and made the function a grand success. About 35 teachers were honoured and presented with a certificate and memento while 10 ministerial staff were also honoured and presented a memento. Students have presented a vibrant dance with rethym, an excellent folk art event.

A blood donation camp was organized at Ranga Bhoopathi B.Ed College, Sathyamangalam, Tamilnadu with the support of the medical staff of Tindivanam. Dr. Venkateswarlu, Principal of the college inaugurated the camp at 10am on 6th September 2012. Only boys have donated blood. Totally 32 units of blood was donated to the Blood Bank, Tindivanam. Lions K. Paulraj, T. Bhaskaran, S. Prabhakaran, S. Vijayakumar, D. Balasundar, G. Sreenivasulu and S. Ranga Rao took active part in the camp.

The first Zone Advisory Meeting of Zone III of Region I consisting of Lions clubs of Pondicherry Excellence, Pondicherry Light House and Pondicherry Samaritan was held at 8pm on 21st September 2012 at Andhra Maha Sabha, Pondicherry. President, Secretary and Treasurer of the above clubs and some vice-presidents and District Chairpersons of these clubs have also attended the meeting. Lion K. Paulraj, president of the host club, Pondicherry Light Hose, welcomed all the members and honoured them after which the proceedings were taken over by the Zone Chairperson, Ln. S. Siva.
