The Magic Yarn started when a Lions club member's grand niece developed leukemia at age 3. The project organizer was a friend of the young girl's mother. From there the project has grown to provide wigs for young cancer fighters a crossed the globe.

2020 Lifting, Giving, Kindness "We Serve"
In this season of giving, our club adopted a family and provided means to lift and make their burdens lighter.
Gratitude, Service, Celebration
Pleasant Grove City has recognized Pleasant Grove Lions Club's development of the Downtown City Park. This park was a five-year service project 1978-1983. A pavilion, playground, drinking fountain, and horse shoe pits provided the community with facilities for 40 years. In 2019 the park was refurbished by Pleasant Grove City. The city has graciously acknowledged our contributions with plaques on one of the new pavilions. The large plaque gives the park development history, volunteer hours, and cost. This placement coincides with the club's 82nd charting anniversary, October 24, 1938.
Here is short presentation of the original project with pictures of the new pavilion interspursed "The Vision Continues" https://www.facebook.com/510027602375502/videos/351044662270735
Humanitarian: Youth Scholarships
"A Lions Heart"
Leadership scholarships are given each year to high school students to attend conferences to broaden their knowledge of civic duties and leadership opportunities. These conferences have included the Hugh O'brian Youth leadership, Utah Girls State, and Utah Boys State. Academic scholarships are given to high school students to pursue post high school schooling.
The 2020 Academic Scholarship receipient was Emma. She followed the Lions theme that "Kindness Matters." With kindness, Emma changed the lives of those around her. By starting a PGHS Kindness account on Instagram as a high school sophomore, 300 individuals in her high school were highlighted. Emma truly has the heart of a Lion.

Note of Appreciation
We received a note from our 2020 Lions Club Scholarship, Emma W. She is loving her experience at BYU-Idaho. And is very grateful for the scholarship that helped her attend.
As a club we say, "You are welcome Emma. With your talents and kindness you will make the world a happier place. We thank you for your example. You truly have a Lions heart"
Humanitarian Project: Clothing Donation
The community response to our project with socks, gloves, and stocking caps was overwhelming. Our large box was overflowing and all this was done in the space of a two week period. A big thank you goes out to the library for allowing us to use their facility for our collection efforts. We are so grateful to our Pleasant Grove residents for their generosity and support. Service and making a difference in a positive way is what it's all about. We love to serve. The Pleasant Grove Lions Club wishes the community a season of joy and gratitude.
Humanitarian Project: Hunger
This project was cancelled because of the pandemic.
All public buildings were closed.

Honoring Those Who Served
Strawberry Days Parade Entry
The Pleasant Grove Lions Club has a tradition of honoring our military veterans in the local Strawberry Days Festival Parade. The service of our honored veterans started in World War II to all the present-day conflicts. Because they served, we continue to serve.
