Lions Club of Peterborough

It is both an honour and a joy to be the incoming President of the Peterborough Lions Club 2026-2027 during such a remarkable milestone year. This September, our club celebrates 90 years of service — nine decades of community spirit, compassion, and unwavering dedication to helping others.

The Lions organization has a long and proud history. Founded in 1917, Lions Clubs International grew from a simple idea: that people who care about their communities could achieve more by working together. Since then, Lions have become the world’s largest service organization, with clubs in more than 200 countries and countless volunteers committed to improving lives. From supporting vision programs, to disaster relief, to youth initiatives, Lions have made a meaningful difference in communities around the globe.

Here in Peterborough, our club has carried that mission forward with heart and determination. For 90 years, the Peterborough Lions Club has been a steady source of support, kindness, and leadership. Our members have given tens of thousands of volunteer hours over the years — quietly, consistently, and generously — to strengthen this community we all love. Whether it’s helping local families, supporting accessibility projects, contributing to health initiatives, or simply being there when someone needs a hand, the Lions have always shown what service truly looks like.

What makes this club special is not just what we do, but who we are. We are neighbours helping neighbours. We are people who believe that small acts of service can create big change. And we are a family — one that welcomes new ideas, new energy, and new members who want to make a difference.

As we look ahead to the next chapter of our club’s history, I want to extend a heartfelt invitation to anyone in our community who is searching for a meaningful way to give back. The Lions offer something truly unique: the chance to serve with purpose, to build lifelong friendships, and to experience the deep satisfaction that comes from knowing your time and effort have made someone’s life a little brighter. The Kawartha Bingo Sponsor's Association consists of 50 charities and non-profit organizations that participate in charitable fundraising at Delta Bingo & Gaming Centre in Peterborough.

Delta offers both electronic bingo terminals and traditional paper cards, as well as Vegas Style machine games, all in a beautiful facility. Since the grand opening in December 2005, Kawartha Bingo Sponsors Association charities have raised more than $15,000,000 for our community. This wouldn't have been possible without the ongoing support of dedicated customers. Remember, all of the money raised by our groups remains in our community supporting local programs and services.

The Peterborough Lions Club has been a member of the Kawartha Bingo Sponsor's association for many years along with other Charities & Non Profit Groups who volunteer their time at the DELTA BINGO & GAMING CENTRE.

The funds received by the Peterborough Lions Club from the weekly bingo's help fund a large number of the many requests we receive from our community, from both individuals & charities alike. These requests range from Orthotics, Wheel Chairs, Walkers, Assistive Devices, dentures, Hearing Aids, Prescription Glasses, as well as many other items. Without the sponsorship funding received from our weekly bingo assignments, the Peterborough Lions Club could not provide help to as many Charities and individuals as we currently do. From the child who needs braces to help with ear and jaw pain, the orthotics to help an individual walk, the hearing aids to help with daily activities, prescription glasses to help see the wonders of life more clearly and the many groups we provide financial support to such as the Salvation Army Appeals, Kawartha Food Share, PRHC Foundation to name just a few.

A HUGE THANK-YOU goes out to Delta Bingo and Gaming, for their continued support and to all of the Peterborough Lions Club members that continue to volunteer to help us give back to our community. Without their continued support none of this would be possible.
