  7. Eye Screenings: Screened 985 students in 5 separate schools; referred 160 individuals for eye exams. Screened 104, referred 23 at health fairs and other local events.
  8. Highway Cleanup:  Picked up trash for a mile along Hwy. 260 three times in the fiscal year.
  9. Yarn Project:  Gathered donated yarn for the women in the Federal Correctional Institution/Phoenix.  The inmate group, Women Giving Back, use their spare time to crochet blankets, stuffed toys, and other items. They created 147 different items that we in turn gift to local senior center, domestic violence shelter, foster children, and other community organizations
  10. Senior Program:  Provided 82 birthday and Christmas gifts to residents of 2 nursing homes.   Expense over $2,000.
  11. Diabetes/Sharps Program: We recognize the community’s need for disposal and help to alleviate the expense of purchasing a new Sharps container. We purchase the containers and provide them to the Gila County Health Dept., which is the only place in the Payson area to dispose of Sharps containers.  People are given a new container, free of charge. Since its launch in February 2025, 25 containers have been distributed in 4 months. This helps to protect the environment by providing an incentive that eliminates people from disposing of their needles in the garbage. It protects health and safety so that the public and drug users will not find used needles
  12. Community Events:  Give away or sometimes sell cotton candy, popcorn, sno-cones and t-shirts for community awareness or fundraisers
  13. Public Donations:  We rely on and thank the community of Payson for their overwhelming support and donations to our club
  14. Community Outreach: Our members are dedicated service-minded people that care deeply about others and the community. They volunteer for the Lions Club and many other community organizations. For the fiscal year, our members reported a total of 7,685 volunteer hours!!
