The Lions Club has been providing food baskets for the past three decades. The project began as an Eagle Scout Project and flourished from there. The purpose for the food basket program is to provide food for children and senior citizens that will not receive breakfast and lunch at school during the two week holiday break.

Our number of families served has ranged from 100 families to 180 families in the past few years. Family applications are submitted to our group by a number of organizations and then reviewed for selection. The purpose for the food basket program is to provide food for children that will not receive breakfast and lunch at school during the two week holiday break.

Each year a number of service organizations and community members provide assistance in a number of ways, such as monetary donations, volunteer time, or the use of a vacant building. Our challenge from year to year is to find a vacant building that is capable of housing approximately 700 boxes and room to sort all the food we receive.

The application period for 2019 Christmas food baskets has been closed.
