Environment
Twice per year, Lions pick up trash on trails or anywhere the City of Paola needs us. In addition, Lions sponsor the Paola Farmer's Market on Saturdays from May to September. The club is also a co-sponsor for the Courthouse Gardens, which provides a beautiful outdoor garden adjacent to the historic courthouse. As a fundraiser, Lions sell bricks with donor names engraved and placed in a prominent location in the Courthouse Gardens. The club built and maintains the Lions Park on the west shore of Lake Miola. That park has two picnic shelters, a "high and dry" boat, and various pieces of playground equipment. The picnic shelters were recently re-roofed thanks to a generous contribution by Keeton Roofing.
Vision
Improvement of vision for members of their communities has been a goal of all Lions Clubs for many years. In Paola, the club collects eyeglasses for reuse and provides a one-time vision exam and basic glasses for individuals unable to afford them.
Health
The Lions Club supports at least one blood drive each year, in conjunction with the Community Blood Center.
Education
Lions provide monetary support to the schools by sending one or more Paola High School students to Lions Band and/or Boys State. In addition, the club provides two $500 senior scholarships from an endowment and supports the "Night at the Museum" at Cottonwood Elementary School.
General
Many of our Lions are members and proudly support the Paola Chamber of Commerce. The club provides cracker jacks at the annual Halloween parade and supports the Cops for Tots program.
