On Valentine's Day, February 14th, the Palmdale Lins Club held its Student Speaker Contest. Noah Sveiven was the winner in his second year of participating. Now he will compete at other district levels, and has a potential to win some money for his future education. We'll follow him along and report back.
UPDATE
Noah has been winning everywhere he goes. After the club win, he went on to win the Zone, Region, and District Levels. Pictured above is after the District win on April 28th, 2018. It's on to the Area Level contest on May 19th in Carlsbad!
Final Update to 2018 contest:
Noah Svieven won the Area contest in Carlsbad on May 19th and earned $6,500 to add to the $4,500 he had already earned.
Unfortunately, he couldn't quite win it all at the finals in Visalia on June 9th. Nevertheless, he did receive a pretty good chunk of scholarship money as it was. Since he didn't win it all this year, he is allowed to participate again next year. Well done Noah! We're hoping to have him come and speak at a meeting in the near future.
