The Oswego Lions Club Harold “H” and Mary Dowd Memorial Scholarship.
Harold “H” Dowd was a member of the Fulton Lions Club who was instrumental in keeping the Oswego Lions Club going when it was on the verge of disbanding in 1997. “H” and Mary were very community minded individuals who were always willing to help, whatever the need might be. They both felt very strongly about “giving back” to the community.
The Oswego Lions Club Harold “H” and Mary Dowd Memorial Scholarship provides one (1) Oswego High School Senior with a $2000.00 scholarship
($500.00 per year, renewable for up to four (4) years).
Scholarship is awarded after successful completion of full-time enrollment of the first semester of each of the recipient’s academic years. Student must maintain a Semester GPA of at least 2.0 or better for release of award.
The club's scholarship committee will take into consideration and select the scholarship recipient based following five criteria:
- The applicant must be an Oswego High School Senior planning to attend a two or four-year college, university or vocational school in New York State.
- Community Involvement and Extracurricular Activities
- Financial need
- Average student or better
- Short written essay
