RECYCLING PROJECTS
The Lions Club of Orewa collects many different items which are sold to local recyclers, with the proceeds going back to various community organisations.
The following items are collected for the causes shown:
Aluminium including wine bottle tops and can tabs - Kidney Kids NZ to support children living with kidney disease.
Car and truck batteries – Child Mobility Foundation to provide help for children with mobility problems.
Used spectacles – these are checked and graded before being sent to the Pacific Island Eye Clinics.

Newspapers (not shiny inserts) – the majority are sold to Erosion Control to be used in their Hydroseeding process while the large newspapers go to one of the local dog kennels.

Old New Zealand notes and coins plus all foreign currency - Heads Up for Kids to provide grants for youth to participate in a variety of activities including the Spirit of New Zealand, Outward Bound and Hillary Outdoor Pursuit Centre.
